Media
Lively debate in an informal setting
Every Monday at lunchtime throughout the year, we offer 'Media Munch' sessions, which are informal gatherings where students and teachers get together over lunch to view and discuss a different media text or topic designed to ignite passions and inspire debate.
Media studies, film studies, and students with an interest in sociology, psychology, and related disciplines, are encouraged to attend and gain a better understanding of the messages conveyed within the media.
Film
The magic of movies at BSB
Each year, we show a series of films that complement the Film Studies and Media Studies courses. Open to all, these screenings are an excellent opportunity for students to see classic, obscure, and critically acclaimed films. Films are advertised around the School in advance, and students are encouraged to come along with friends and enjoy the magic of cinema in a relaxed and informal environment. Post-movie discussions are commonplace, giving students the chance to share their views on what they've seen. Some films certificated (18) will have restricted viewing.
Design & technology
An extra opportunity for students to learn new skills
Students who enjoy using their skill and intelligence to design and build things have an additional opportunity to practice their abilities and learn new methods, materials, and machines. We offer several Design & Technology Clubs at BSB, enabling students to participate in activities such as working with woods, metals, plasticsĀ and textiles. We also offer a supervised open workshop for students in Years 10 to 13, allowing students to work on examination projects, developing their own unique ideas.
