Music: in our ears, in our hearts
Our Music Department gives students everything they need to pursue their ambition: modern or classical, creative or technical.
The Music Department has quality purpose-built accommodation. This includes:
- a spacious, well-equipped Music Technology Studio
- a Recording Studio of near-professional quality
- a large rehearsal hall for the School's bands, orchestras, instrument groups and choirs
- the Brel Theatre seating 240
- 12 individual practice rooms used for instrumental lessons
- a wide range of instruments available for renting for students taking instrumental lessons
Alumni returning from university frequently remark that our facilities are better than the ones provided by their university.
As you'd expect, we offer tuition in all orchestral instruments and are a certified examination centre for both the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Rockschool.
Concerts are a regular, lively occurrence, with all tastes and ages catered for. Our concerts are a great place for students and parents to come together and enjoy the BSB community in a relaxed and informal environment.
Each year, we host a Jazz Evening, a School Musical or Christmas Concert in the Autumn Term, a Rock Concert and Music Festival in the Spring Term, and two further concerts in the Summer Term.
