Learning outside the classroom

 

Our children are encouraged to interact with their environment and explore the world from an early age. Our trips and excursions are linked to our Integrated Learning Themes (ILT’s) to enhance and deepen the learning and understanding gained through first-hand experience. We offer supervised trips to all our students at a Primary School age, ensuring they grow up seeing their education in context and form opinions that are globally aware and engaged with the community.

Lower Primary School trips

Short local field trips provide fun and new experiences for our younger students, with organised visits and excursions including the following:

  • visits to local art museums
  • looking for animals in wildlife parks
  • visits to a toy museum
  • stepping back in time at an open air museum
  • discovering different cities at Mini-Europe
  • exploring the local area and understanding the history of Tervuren

Upper Primary School trips

We are fortunate to be so centrally located. As a result, our students are able to explore the rich European heritage of our surroundings and enjoy the cultural education that Belgium has to offer.

It is our aim to give students first-hand experience of the curriculum they are being taught, augmenting and enhancing their learning experience.

Travelling with their teachers and classmates is an exciting, involving, and valuable experience for all our students, both academically and socially.

Residential trips or school journeys take place in Years 3-6 and vary from visits to the Ardennes in Southern Belgium to further afield trips to France and Holland. The journey complements the work the children do in class and provides opportunities for enriching language skills and deepening understanding of Integrated Learning Themes.

For many students, the residential trip together in Year 3 provides them with their first exciting experience of life away from home, encourages independence, and also brings students closer together. All primary school trips, including the school journeys, are at no additional expense.
