Physical education
At BSB, we believe a healthy body is as important as an active and inquiring mind. Physical Education (PE) is an essential part of a holistic education that embodies healthy living, teamwork, respect for each other, and respect for one's own self. Students are challenged and supported, work together and engage in friendly competition, as well as being able to work towards a PE qualification at GCSE level.
Our exceptional sports facilities enable PE to thrive at BSB. In addition to classes, students are able to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities and join our many sports teams. Most sports are fully supported, ranging from Rugby and Football to Golf, Netball, Swimming, and Gymnastics.

Curriculum
In Years 7 to 9 students enjoy two lessons of PE each week, using indoor and outdoor facilities. They’re able to sample a wide range of individual and team sports, as well as gymnastics, cross-country running, and general fitness.
Years 10 and 11 also participate in a compulsory fitness programme, where students develop teamwork skills and also gain a greater understanding of tactical elements of various games. Students may choose to study for a GCSE in Physical Education, which is split into two elements: theory and practice; marked by an exam and a physical assessment of performance.
Years 12 and 13 may also choose to study PE at A Level, with AS and A2 qualifications fully supported. Students build on their sporting abilities, as well as working on psychological and sociological aspects of sports.
