An analytical understanding of how the world works
Subjects that fall into the category of the Humanities aim to teach students about the human condition, society, and the way we relate to the physical world. The humanities teach students using methods that are analytical, critical, or speculative, as distinguished from the mainly empirical approaches of the sciences. Students learn how to question their surroundings and think critically about their role in society, and about society in general -- how we interact, how we think, how we feel – combining practical and theoretical knowledge to become more engaged and aware.
