Dutch

Dutch is available to all students in Years 7 to 9. We also offer Dutch A1 as an option as part of the bilingual IB Diploma. As Dutch is one of the most widely spoken languages in our host country, it offers students an excellent opportunity to develop their communication skills and have an understanding of the local culture.

Curriculum

Students may choose to study Dutch as their compulsory additional second language in Years 7 to 9 and may continue to study Dutch in Years 10 and 11. Students learning Dutch will be introduced to the language and culture of the Dutch-speaking world, making selective use of authentic reading and television materials. Students work with other students at a Flemish school in Tervuren, giving them additional opportunities to practice their skills.

We offer a bilingual Dutch/English International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma for 16 to 18 year olds, giving older students the opportunity to continue with their studies.
