British-based curriculum, international vision
As an international learning community we encourage personal development where students can grow as individuals and make confident decisions. Exam results are important, but becoming well-rounded individuals and global citizens is important too. At BSB, students are prepared for all the challenges of the modern world – not just the challenges of their final exams. At the heart of every school lies academic achievement. We offer a British-based Curriculum that is rigorous, thorough and adapted to the international context and cohort of our 1200 students from over 60 nations. Our results are outstanding.
Our Curriculum is organised into Primary School (ages 3 – 11) and Secondary School (ages 11 – 18).

Unique in Belgium
English is the main language of tuition, with options available to follow a Bilingual French/English class in Primary School. All students follow a British-based curriculum up to the age of 16 (GCSE and International GCSE). This is adapted to our European context and international cohort. BSB is the only school in Belgium to offer students Post-16 the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma as well as the English A Level, enabling students to choose from a wide range of internationally accepted pre-university subjects and courses, broadening the range of their education and giving them even more opportunities for personal growth and development. We also offer a range of vocational courses including the IBCC and BTEC.
Integrated learning
At Primary School level, we focus on teaching the core subjects of English and Maths, whilst successfully establishing broad-ranging first principles by teaching all other subjects in an interconnected and mutually beneficial way. Our unique and challenging programme of Integrated Learning Themes (ILTs) link a broad range of subject’s together, creating meaningful, challenging, and stimulating work for our children of Primary School age.
French
As an international School with a multicultural student body and a global outlook that is situated at the very heart of one of the world's most multilingual countries, we place a great deal of importance on teaching children languages other than their mother tongue. As a result, we ensure all children have the opportunity to learn French from an early age.
Our French/English bilingual programme in the Primary School complements the current English-medium teaching across the curriculum. In September 2012 a programme will begin in the Secondary School in Year 7 (for children aged 11-12 years), and will extend to Year 9 (14 year olds) by 2015. We have offered the French/English Bilingual International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma for Post-16 students for many years.
Dutch
As part of our on-going commitment to greater diversity and choice, we also offer our students a Dutch/English Bilingual International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma for study Post-16 complementing our established bilingual French/English (IB) Diploma programme. In addition we offer Dutch lessons to children as early as 7 years old, with classes for beginners and native speakers. Students may continue to learn Dutch as an additional language in Secondary School.
Excellence at every level
At BSB, we take a broad and inclusive attitude to learning, encouraging students to make their own choices. We act as guides and mentors, helping students to excel and develop a wide range of skills, to become well-balanced individuals with a unique contribution to make to the world.
