School governance
Our School is administered by a Board of Trustees and overseen by a Board of Governors, comprising of distinguished British and Belgian citizens from the professional and business world. The board also includes parent and staff representatives.
The organisation
Our School is operated as a not-for-profit association (vzw) under Belgian law.
BSB, an independent school
Although the School is called a British School, BSB does not receive any support from either the UK government or any other government. We are an independent school and entirely self financing.
Curriculum
Our School follows a British-based Curriculum up to the age of 16. This is adapted to our European context and international cohort and is followed by the choice of two internationally recognised pre-university examination courses from age 16-18 – English A Level and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, further broadening students’ choice.
We keep up-to-date with educational developments in Britain, but we are not responsible to any UK authority. We are educationally independent and free to follow the best educational practices.
In September 2011, French/English bilingual teaching was launched in some Primary years, with a view to offering this option eventually throughout the School.
The BSB Association
The good health of our School is entrusted to the legal members of the Association.
