Would suit an Early Career Teacher

The British School of Brussels (BSB) is a leading not-for-profit, inclusive international school with 1,350 students from around 70 countries. Set on a stunning green campus in Tervuren – close to both vibrant Leuven and cosmopolitan Brussels – we combine world-class facilities with a warm, welcoming community.

What truly sets BSB apart is not just what we do, but how we do it. Strong relationships, a shared sense of belonging, and a relentless commitment to quality underpin every aspect of school life. Our students are inspired to aim high, broaden their horizons, and thrive-academically, personally, and socially.

From our bespoke enquiry-based Primary curriculum to our outstanding range of pathways at Post-16 (A Levels, IB Diploma, and BTEC), and an enrichment programme offering hundreds of activities each week, BSB provides exceptional opportunities for every child. Our graduates go on to top universities worldwide, and these results are the natural outcome of a culture built on care, curiosity, and collaboration.

We are now seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced teachers who can bring a real enthusiasm to the school. We are not just looking for talented teachers; we are seeking to appoint teachers who can make a wide contribution to the life of the school.

History at BSB

All students in Years 7-9 study History and it is a popular option in Years 10 and 11, where students follow the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE course. In Years 12 and 13 the department offers History as an A Level and for both Standard and Higher-level International Baccalaureate (IB). Politics A Level is also offered through the department and students follow the Edexcel course.

The History department sits in the wider Human Social and Political Sciences faculty at BSB, which also includes Geography, Economics and Business, Sociology and Psychology. The department’s position within a wider faculty facilitates fruitful collaboration, such as our recent History and Geography joint project exploring the world of professional curating using the expertise and collections of the nearby Museum of Central Africa.

The role

The ideal candidate should be a passionate subject specialist able to offer History across the Secondary School age range and committed to collaborative working with a dynamic team. The ability to teach A level and / or IB would be an advantage, as would an openness or existing capacity to support the delivery of Politics A Level.

The ability to teach Geography would be an advantage.

The Person:

  • Commitment to the BSB Guiding Statements
  • Committed to always achieving the best for BSB students
