Celebrating Outstanding A Level and BTEC Results

87% of A Level grades at A-C, a 100% BTEC pass rate, and a 98% overall A Level pass rate

We are delighted to share an excellent set of A Level and BTEC results for 2026. Students across both qualifications have achieved outcomes that reflect two years of hard work, expert teaching, and steady support from families throughout.

At A Level, 14% of grades were A*, 35% were A*-A, and 87% were A*-C, with a 98% overall pass rate. At BTEC, every student passed, with over a quarter of the cohort awarded the top grade of Distinction* and 72% achieving Merit or higher.

What are A Levels and BTECs?

A Levels are subject-based qualifications, typically studied over two years, that allow students to specialise in three or four subjects of their choice. They are widely recognised by universities around the world and remain one of the most established routes into higher education.

BTECs are vocational qualifications that combine practical, real-world skills with academic study. Equivalent in size and standing to A Levels, they give students a route into university, apprenticeships or employment that is built around applied learning in a chosen field.

Both pathways are held to the same standard at BSB, and both lead our students to outstanding destinations.

James Penstone, Principal and CEO, said:

These excellent results are a testament to our students’ talent, determination and hard work. We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved and of the way they have supported one another throughout their educational journey. We also recognise the invaluable contribution of our staff and families, whose partnership and support have helped make these achievements possible. As our students move on to universities and opportunities around the world, we wish them every success and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make in the future.

Head of Secondary, James Johnson, shared his reflections:

We couldn’t be more proud of our graduating A Level and BTEC students. Students achieved at every level, and we are so happy to support them as they go off to universities of their choice around the world. These results have been the product of the students’ hard work and dedication, coupled with the expert teaching and welfare support provided by our learning community.

Head of Post-16 James Rollinson added:

I am delighted to see these excellent A Level and BTEC results and the individual success stories that each represents. These qualifications allow students to specialise in preferred areas of study, and the results represent significant academic success as well as evidence of sustained personal commitment and investment. Our students are set up now for their next chapters around the world on these well-recognised pathways, and I wish them all the very best.

Where our students are heading

This year’s results have opened doors to a wide range of courses and universities. Among many excellent destinations, our students are going on to study:

  • Medicine at Imperial College London
  • Biomedical Engineering at the University of Sheffield
  • Criminology at the University of Manchester
  • Accounting and Finance at the University of Warwick
  • International Management at the University of Liverpool
  • Art and Design at Oxford Brookes University

Every one of these places reflects a story of effort, growth and ambition, and we congratulate every student on what they have achieved.
