BSB celebrates GCSE Results

News 28 August 2019

Congratulations to BSB students on their outstanding GCSE results. This year’s results were the first where the new number grading system was in place for almost all examinations. This has enabled the certificate to distinguish between the very highest achievers with the A-A* grades now being given grades 7-9 with a 9 being considered an A**.

Success in numbers

Below are all of the BSB GCSE results for 2019 for Years 8 – 13.

  • 20% of results were grade 9 (A**);
  • 55% of grades were 9 – 7 (A*-A);
  • 93% of grades were 9 – 4 (A*-C);
  • Average grade scored was a 7 (grade A).

In addition to Year 11, classes of students in younger Secondary year groups took a range of modern language examinations early; with an impressive number of top grades yet again.

“The students should be very proud of the success that they have achieved in these exams. It was wonderful to see how pleased the students were for each other, and the way in which they celebrated together on results day. Congratulations to all of our students on their fantastic achievements. We wish them all the best as they start on their Year 12 courses in the coming days. A special thanks also to Dannielle White as Head of Year, and to the subject teachers and tutors who have supported the students throughout the last two years to prepare them for these examinations”, said John Knight, Vice Principal and Head of Secondary School.

BSB Principal, Melanie Warnes added: “I am delighted for all of our students. They have worked so hard and deserve these tremendous achievements. I wish them further success in the next phase of their education – well done! Thank you also to staff for their commitment, and parents for their invaluable support.”
