Our curriculum is British based and uniquely adapted to the needs of our international and diverse student body. There is an Early Childhood Centre for children aged 1-3. Our Primary School offers a bespoke enquiry-based curriculum. Students in Year 10 & 11 study for (I)GCSE and BTEC courses. Post-16 students can choose from three internationally recognised pre-university examination courses: English A Levels, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or BTEC.  Our Enrichment programme is exceptional, offering over 100 activities per week.

The British School of Brussels is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and qualified Early years practitioner to join our team. The Early Childhood Centre (ECC) at BSB is a unique, high quality, outstanding early learning setting for 1- to 3-year-olds. Children can attend part or full time and follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum from the UK. The ECC is open during term time only, from 8.10 – 18.00 daily.

Being part of the British School of Brussels, children attending ECC have the advantage of specialist music sessions, use of the Lower Primary School Gym and Library and well resourced, engaging indoor and outdoor spaces.

We are looking for a full time Early years practitioner to join the ECC team from September 2025.

Successful candidates must be passionate about early education, creative, possess positive communication skills and a commitment to teamwork.

Previous experience in a childcare or educational setting is vital as well as patience, enthusiasm, a caring nature and a keen interest in child development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide nurturing and supportive care to children in a day care setting, ensuring their safety, well-being, and emotional development.
• Observe, plan and evaluate children’s development using the EYFS curriculum.
• Ensure compliance with the regulations of Kind & Gezin and the standards of The British School of Brussels.
• Maintain strong communication with parents, ensuring their involvement in their child’s development and progress.
• Use Tapestry for recording observations, planning, and reporting on children’s activities.
• Undertake shared responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness throughout the ECC.
• Ensure the ECC is a safe, stimulating environment for children to flourish.
• Create a secure environment, using imagination and creativity to support children’s learning.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall development and improvement of the daycare centre.
• You and your colleagues form a strong and close team. As well as providing support, you will give feedback to each other, with open communication being key. You will share tips and ideas with your team and help think about ways to improve the way our childcare provision works.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Qualifications as required by Kind & Gezin (see attached document)
• Relevant experience in an educational or childcare setting is essential.
• A passion for early childhood education, with a caring and creative approach to supporting children’s learning.
• Positive communication skills and a strong commitment to teamwork.
• A patient and enthusiastic nature, with a keen interest in child development.
• A willingness to follow the EYFS curriculum and work in accordance with Belgian national childcare guidelines.
• Fluency in English is essential, with knowledge of French being a plus.
• Dutch NT2 in speaking
• Familiarity with Tapestry (or similar tools) for documenting children’s progress is an advantage.
