The graduating students of The British School of Brussels (BSB) have achieved highly impressive exam results in their A-Levels and Level 3 BTEC qualifications, matching the strongest performance of the past decade. Exceptional individual and group performances reflected the hard work, commitment, and talent of our students and staff and ranking among our best-ever, with over a third of A level grades awarded at A or A*.
This year BSB’s BTEC (Level 3) students have put in an equally impressive performance. We are proud to announce a 100% pass rate for our BTEC students with 60% of results showing top grades at Distinction and Distinction*.
James Johnson, Vice Principal and Head of Secondary, praised both the students and staff for their achievements: “These results are nothing short of outstanding and are a testament to the determination, resilience, and ambition of our students, as well as the expertise and dedication of our teaching staff. To produce some of the best results in the last 10 years is an incredible achievement, and I could not be prouder of the BSB community.”
Students on all courses have been empowered to excel across our diverse and extensive curriculum, from Mathematics and the Sciences to the Arts and Humanities, securing places at leading universities in the UK, Europe, USA and around the world.
Following the publication of GCSE results for our Year 11 cohort today, we are also delighted to celebrate another year of excellent results at this level, with students achieving outstanding outcomes across a broad range of subjects. Over 50% of all grades awarded were at the top levels of 7, 8 and 9. In addition, 90% of grades were awarded at grade 4 and above, ensuring that the vast majority of students secured strong passes facilitating their onward journey in education.
James Penstone, CEO and Principal, said: “I am immensely proud of our students for achieving such exceptional results, in their A-Levels, BTEC qualifications and GCSE’s, which reflect not only their hard work and talent but also the unwavering support of our staff and families. These achievements embody the spirit of BSB and the values that will guide our graduates as they move forward into the world.”
These results follow on from the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme announcement at the end of July, with BSB students achieving an impressive average IB Diploma score of 35.4, significantly above the anticipated global average of 30.6 points.Over 93% of our students outperformed the expected international averages, and a number of students achieved 40 points or more.
In addition to impressive academic success, this year’s results reflect BSB’s commitment to holistic education, with many students balancing their studies alongside sporting, artistic, and community service achievements. The school looks forward to following the journeys of its graduates as they embark on their next chapter, confident that the skills, values, and friendships they have built at BSB will serve them for life.
