Be part of something bigger

Sports are central to the community at BSB. Everyone can take part. Our teams, clubs, and lessons are inclusive, diverse, and tolerant. All we ask is that students give their best.

We offer the following:

Basketball

Due to popular demand, our basketball programme is bigger and better than ever. We have a reciprocal arrangement with the Brussels Sports Association to enter BSA competitions, and we hope to start participating in the ISST Championships soon.

Cricket

Cricket, that most English of pastimes, thrives here -- as it does in many other places across the globe. A truly international sport, students of all ages can play competitively. We have four teams at U11, U13, U15 and, U18 level.

Cross-Country

Our cross-country runners train in the demanding and rewarding Tervuren Park, which is accessible directly from the School grounds. The team competes in the annual ISST (International Schools Sports Tournament) competition against other international schools, and trains all year round.

Football

Fans can indulge their football passion at BSB. We offer both boys and girls the opportunity to play football, with teams at Primary and Secondary School level. We also take part in the ISST (International Schools Sports Tournament) Football championships.

Golf

You're never too young to start learning how to play golf. That's quite literally true at BSB, with our "SNAG" (Starting New at Golf) lessons for Years 1 and 2. It's a proven learning and training tool for entry level golfers. Students then progress to specialist sessions in Years 3 to 6, with specialist junior golf equipment provided. Those students wishing to continue with the sport in Years 7 and above will find their needs amply catered for. Years 7 and above practice in Louvain-la-Neuve and receive expert coaching.

Gymnastics

Our gymnastics programme offers girls the chance to improve their fitness, enhance their reflexes, and compete in top-flight competitions. Girls wishing to sign up should check back regularly for vacancies -- it's a highly popular and competitive sport. Our gymnasts have had a number of recent successes, both individually and as a team. One of our gymnasts has been crowned Belgian Champion of the Fédération Française de Gymnastique, while the team continues to win awards in ISST (International School Sports) tournaments.

Hockey

Our hockey teams are registered with ARBH, the Belgian Hockey Federation, as members of The British School Hockey Club. We are highly competitive, and successful. Students between the ages of 9 and 18 are welcome to participate, and play league games with students of a similar age. Tournaments take place when the season ends in April or May.

Netball

BSB has three groups for Netball: Years 10 to 13, Years 7 to 10 and Years 4 to 6. The Year 6s take a team to the UK to participate in the annual IAPS tournament. Our teams play regular matches against schools in the UK, where the sport continues to grow and thrive. BSB is the only school in Belgium to provide dedicated netball courts. The sport is popular with students of all nationalities.

Rugby

Students at BSB take rugby seriously -- they're trained to compete. Training sessions are fun, but practical. Students not only work on their fitness, but also learn the rules and tactics of the game. Our teams have a work hard, play hard philosophy. It's a great way to build teamwork skills and make friends for life. Students of all ages are able to participate, with teams operating at junior and senior levels. We have seven squads ranging from the Under 7s and Under 9s to the Under 19s. In recent years, BSB has produced two professionals who have represented England at national level, Nick Kennedy and Jon Golding.

Swimming

Our Dolphins Swimming Club has more than 200 members. We teach students from 4 to 18 years of age and have one simple aim: to get students to start enjoying swimming! All teachers hold an ASA swimming teacher or coach qualification (or equivalent) and teach a varied programme that includes swimming skills, stroke improvement, starts and turns, personal survival skills and basic life-saving skills. The Dolphins also have a programme of distance testing from 5m-5000m for students looking to test their endurance. Students are encouraged to take the sport as far as they can. Felix Carritt, of the Mexican Olympic swimming team, started his career at BSB.

Tennis

Tennis is well represented at BSB, with students able to enjoy two tennis clubs, a tennis academy, junior social tennis, and membership in a competitive tennis team. For more information, go to www.bsbtennis.be.
